sussex businesses to benefit from free paye workshops

Tax consultants from Spofforths, a leading independent firm of Chartered Accountants in Sussex, are offering business people across the region the opportunity to attend free PAYE workshops. The series of seminars are due to take place in the firm’s East and West Sussex offices throughout May 2009. Those interested in PAYE and related topics are being invited along to the events which will be held in Brighton, Chichester, Horsham and Worthing.

The consultants hope to help Sussex businesses to avoid some common PAYE and benefits in kind pitfalls. The presentations will also address the question of employment status, employee share option schemes and the possibility of rewarding staff in a more tax efficient way.

Bryan Elkins, who heads the firm's Tax Consultancy Team, commented: “The workshops will be really relaxed and I‘m positive that they will prove beneficial to all those who can attend. The seminars provide a great opportunity for business people to meet with members of the team and gain useful information on a variety of issues relating to PAYE.

“During our presentations we’ll address key areas that a compliance visit by HM Revenue and Customs would review and help people identify the risks within their own business. We’ll also identify ways in which employees could be remunerated more tax-efficiently. It’s so important that business people have a good understanding of these topics to avoid problems in the future.”

Following the presentations a question and answer session will be held so that all those in attendance can openly discuss PAYE matters in more detail. Some consultants from the firm will be on hand to meet with guests and provide further advice if required. The seminars are being held at various offices throughout May as follows:-
