spofforths charity challenge
Spofforths secured fourth place in a gruelling highland adventure race from 24th-25th September 2011. Members of staff and some of our clients participated in a number of exhilarating activities as they journeyed from east to west Scotland in aid of the Mitchemp Trust. 40 teams entered the challenge and Spofforths finished with a race time of 10 hours and 59 minutes. The team went mountain biking from Inverness castle along the length of Loch Ness, then canoeing through the Caledonian Canal, followed by a hike up and down Ben Nevis.
Michael Fowler, a Chartered Financial Planner at our Storrington office and Felise Osborne from the Brighton team enjoyed the race; along with Client Manager Aaron Knight, based in Chichester, and Trainee Accountant Jake Standing who works at our Worthing office. Spofforths clients, Andrew Sweet from BioDot and Rob Searle from Tangmere Airfield Nurseries also took part.
After completing the race Michael Fowler commented: “The event was fantastic and we raised more than five thousand pounds for the Mitchemp Trust. The race itself was very tough - with diversions and avoiding fallen trees the mountain bike course was over 42 miles long and the total climb was 4520 feet. It was very windy over the weekend and at the top of Ben Nevis gusts were recorded at 70 mph with a 'wind chill' of minus 8 C.”
