spofforths backing local business accelerators scheme

We are delighted to announce that Spofforths Partner Chay Took is backing the Local Business Accelerators Scheme, a partnership between the press and business leaders to help young companies during these tough economic times.  The Worthing Herald and Gazette papers are promoting the initiative which was launched by the Newspaper Society in October.

Businesses, aged between one and three years, are being encouraged to apply to the papers for the chance to win a three-month advertising campaign and mentoring from established entrepreneurs within the Herald and Gazette area.  Chay Took will act as a mentor to the winning business, providing some valuable accountancy advice.

Chay, who is based at our Worthing office, commented: “I am delighted to be involved with the scheme as it’s a great way to help promote business growth in our local community.  At Spofforths we are encouraging fledgling companies from Worthing, Shoreham and Littlehampton to nominate themselves.  It’s such a fantastic opportunity and there are so many inspirational business people in our area that should consider entering.

“As a mentor I will provide the winning business with valuable practical accountancy and taxation advice.  I can help them to consider new opportunities and also establish how they can improve the return.  We may look at ways to reduce costs, increase turnover and profitability.

“At Spofforths we are experienced in dealing with new businesses and helping them to make the best decisions for the short and long-term.  I look forward to working with the winning business team and watching them grow.”
