spofforths tenpin bowling night will benefit St Barnabas
Spofforths Chartered Accountants are organising a tenpin bowling night to raise funds for the St Barnabas Building a Dream appeal. Staff at the firm’s Worthing office are encouraging teams of three to sign up for the event which will be held on Thursday 22nd April. All participants will compete in two matches at Worthing Bowl on Marine Parade, from 6.30pm.
The firm has close links with the local community and partners understand just how important St Barnabas is to families in Worthing and the surrounding area. For nearly 40 years, it has been housed in the same building – becoming harder to maintain. Spofforths decided to support the appeal which was launched in March 2009 to raise funds towards rebuilding the hospice.
Lisa John, a Spofforths employee and world tenpin bowling champion commented: “We are really looking forward to the tenpin bowling event as it is for such a great cause. Staff at St Barnabas are fantastic and provide outstanding care for patients, we will do all we can to help them raise funds. The event provides a great opportunity for members of the community to get together and support the rebuild”.
Andrew Perry, Fundraising Development Manager at St Barnabas, went on to say: “We are delighted to have been able to ‘strike’ up this relationship with Spofforths and are ‘bowled’ over by their generous support of our St Barnabas Building a Dream appeal.”
The new hospice in Titnore Lane, Worthing, will give patients and their families greatly improved levels of privacy and dignity in a ‘home from home’ environment, with the building being complemented by beautifully landscaped gardens. The rebuild does come with a huge price tag - £13.5 million.
Thanks to prudent financial planning, St Barnabas already had £9.5 million in the bank before starting the project. Since the Building a Dream Appeal was launched the total sum raised has now reached an amazing £2 million. With the hospice due for completion in the summer the race is now on to raise the remaining £2 million.
