Background: Alison's family moved to Brighton when she was 11 years old. She has lived in the area ever since, most recently in Ditchling. She spends her time raising her two daughters, walking and travelling in France, Italy and, most recently, California. She likes taking landscape and flower photographs, gardening, music and theatre. Literary fiction is an enduring passion and she has written a book for children.
After a year in banking, Alison decided to become an accountant and qualified with a Brighton practice. She was attracted to accountancy, she says, because "I like meeting people and being able to sort out their problems and make their lives easier." During her almost 20 years in the profession she has worked at several local firms, and was a Manager in her last position.
Professional Expertise: Alison joined Spofforths in May 2007 when we opened our Brighton office. The attraction, she says, was the access to specialist expertise that Spofforths offers her. "Being able to draw on people with real specialist knowledge helps me provide a better service to my clients."
Alison is a general practitioner, specialising in looking after family-owned businesses and auditing, especially groups of companies. She also has expertise in preparing and auditing service charge accounts for property management companies and has a track record in performing due diligence.
