In addition to the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS) announced in the Autumn Statement in November, George Osbourne detailed in the budget that the rules governing other schemes will be relaxed. In addition, the budget includes some encouraging increases in the amount of value an individual can be granted for share options in an Enterprise Management Incentive Scheme (EMI). This is proposed to encourage more employee ownership in smaller businesses.
